Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be able to:

• define the nurse’s ethical responsibilities

• apply basic deontological principles that govern the nursing profession’s practice, both on a
national and an international basis

• identify patterns of deontological behaviour

• define patient and nurses’ obligations and responsibilities during their interaction

• identify and effectively confront current deontological and ethical dilemmas

• apply ethical decision-making models within nursing practice
