COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is designed to provide students with knowledge about
nursing terminology in the English language, an important tool for
interpersonal relationships and the care of patients who do not
know the Greek language. Effective communication in the English
language and the use of proper terminology provide patients with
quality nursing care.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
• define terminology related to symptoms in the English language
• describe basic anatomy terminology in the English language
• apply the Nursing Process in the English language
• obtain a patient’s nursing history in the English language
• record Nurses’ notes in the English language
• demonstrate skills necessary in giving specific instructions to patients concerning their treatment (i.e.
medication regime) in the English language
• demonstrate skills necessary in educating patients (role – play, case study) in the English language
• develop skills for studying and reviewing scientific publications in the English language
• comprehend the importance of proper use of the English language for potential future employment
abroad or the care of patients who do not speak the Greek language
