Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be able to:

• become familiar with the necessary theoretical and clinical knowledge regarding pathology of
the cardiovascular and respiratory system

• evaluate the patient’s needs from information obtained from the patient, his / her environment
and his / her medical-nursing history

• design comprehensive nursing care by prioritizing problems and defining nursing care goals for
cardiovascular and respiratory patients

• provide holistic and personalized nursing care

• evaluate the effects of care based on the principles of nursing as an art and a science

• apply the most appropriate methods and techniques in clinical practice

• interpret patients’ responses to early treatment and prevent complications

• describe the concepts of preoperative patient preparation

• evaluate symptoms and develop critical thinking on nursing diagnostics preoperatively,
intraoperatively and postoperatively

• provide personalized post-operative care to patients thus preventing and treating post-
operative complications

• comprehend the nurse’s role and participate in the multidisciplinary treatment group
