Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be able to:

• define, describe and classify the term mass disaster and its various forms.

• describe and organize nursing care during mass disasters by using resources according to
universal recommendations

• apply the general principles of disaster and mass casualty triage based on specific international
assessment algorithms.

• describe the injuries as well as the necessary treatment of the influx of mass casualties

• be aware of the importance of organizing, training and operating a crisis management center.

• describe and analyze the various nursing roles and responsibilities related to disaster
management.
